God's Love

Gary Mummert 1950 (New Oxford, PA)

Love has sought a dwelling place
Longing for a home
My presence yearning for a vessel
Searching for a throne

I've made you with a longing
An overwhelming need
To know the Father's heart of love
I've placed in you my seed

Know my heart of love, dear ones
seek and search and find
Unfailing love, the Father's
there is no greater kind.

I have found a remnant
I have found a friend
Love has found a dwelling place
My love will never end

About this poem

I wrote this poem in 1998, four years after my wife survived breast cancer and two years after my mom's passing. I came across it again today in the 1998 Watermark Press "Diamond in the Rough" publication I had stored in the basement since 1998 and decided to share it.
