Spend the majority of life working for goals that now hold no meaning

Living on top of the world for a sort while and to fall from that is like being on a plane with no pilot

The response is to return to what is known

Much like the aircraft on autopilot

Falling farther and farther the plane does go because one event has caused a loss of control

Once surrounded by family and friends

Now all alone

Once feeling

Now numb

Returning to what is known

Like a plane on autopilot destined to crash.

WOW - I like the end "destined to crash" - I think this is good - it flows well......

Maybe it wasn't destined to crash, just be an hour and a half beyond the destination before its pilots woke up...

Seriously, there is a nice basis for a great poem here. I would suggest you add line breaks and have three or four stanzas for easier reading.
