I have good mistress qualities:

I double book all the time, have been

commands the room

introduce you to her friends, hold your hand
steal kisses in dark corners and giggle when
she thinks someone might be looking
read you a bedtime story and
tuck you in between hospital corners

gemini cannot stand that shit
unmakes the bed into oblivion
steals the covers and only meets your
mouth with hers to
bite
down
hard

cancer wants to cuddle
ask about your childhood
and keep you around til morning

gemini'll push you out of bed
or wake you up from a sound sleep
at 2am for dessert on the veranda
and whipped cream will only be
an appetizer

cancer will apologize
kick herself for being so forward
write you a poem and leave it
on the mirror because she's got to get
to work early
people depend on her.

and you'll wake up thinking
"what the fuck just happened?"

a poem, fresh orange juice, pancakes
and a full sink of dishes waiting for you
with the sun streaming in through
broken blinds and ornately detailed
handmade curtains

maybe you'll mutter something about me
being crazy while you make the bed
do the dishes
add the poem to your collection.
