FINGER FOOD:
Welcome to my party
I’m your host, Stability
Hence my inability to bring out anybody’s
Frivolous side
Constantly denied these wonderful experiments
Good at serving finger food
Entertaining to fit the mood
Still see no real way to live the lives with which they’re graced
Glad to be your guest
My name is Frivolity
Enjoying all obscurities, but never benefiting from
Permanent relations
Choose intoxication to my benefit or detriment
Good at eating finger food
Entertained, whatever the mood
Still see no real way to keep up with their frantic pace
Lose yourself in losing yourself in something
And you’ll lose the need to have something else to gain
“Please leave my property
Regards, your judge and jury
Had to call an end to this to try to make amends for
Wasted time
At least mine is already there for lament
Disposing untouched finger food
Taking a corner for reflective brood
Still see no real way of saving any social face

Thanks for the comments guys! Good to know someone's reading your poems and not totally dispising em .
I am a bit disappointed I didn't call it "Super Duper Mega Sized Meal of (insert reader's name here)'s Favourite Food" now that I know hunger draws people into reading poems!

Hey! Thanks for reading!
The poem in general is about two different types of people...those who act and then think (and therefore have fun partying and all that), and those who analyse everything too much and miss the moment.
The line you asked about is an extension upon acting without thinking first...a comment on how free and spontaneous party people seem to be more content than the analytical, responsible types. The spontaneous people lose themselves in their random lifestyles, and therefore don't take that step back to see what else they need or want (houses, relationships, stability, etc).
Other than that I just thought it sounded ok
Hope this makes sense!

So what you're saying here is, is that spontaneous people have it good and bad. On one hand they freely enjoy the moment, but on the other hand they don't take time to see beyond moments into things that take stability and time. Do I have that right?
If I do, then that line is nICe!

You have it right indeed! I guess whether you assign positive or negative adjectives to the party lifestyle or the stable lifestyle depends on where you are in life
For interests' sake, I spent most of my teens worrying about achievement and stability and the future, and lived my early 20s to regret that wasted youth (a lot of my poems are selfish in their reflection of this...if only I could be as well read and independent as not_a_poet and got_poetry!). Right about now, I'm busy making up for lost time in terms of being irresponsible, so I assign more negative attributes to stability than regret-filled irresponsibility. What about everyone else???
