What about an email notification when someone calls a new slam?

Its something to consider, sure. I'll put it on our consideration list for the next version.
Thanks!

this is easy: a delete post button, and better editing tools.
for example, as someone who often submits, I've been really hesistant to post here, because if I get accepted, I'll want to take the post down for copyright concerns. and shouldn't the poems I want to submit be the prime candidates for workshop and advice?

You can ask to have your poems in the forums deleted any time. Anyone of us admins would be glad to do that for you for copyright reasons. There's a long history of trouble where we've had people get mad or annoyed and delete all of their poems mid conversation... etc. I may turn delete back on because we have the poetry section now, I'll have to think about it... but we don't hold your work hostage.
As for better editing tools, can you explain in more detail or give me some examples?

Like, if I make a post and someone posts after it, I can't edit the original post. For example, I can't have someone point out a minor typo, then go back and edit it. Is this something you can configure, or is it built into the board?

Speaking as the typo king, I have to say the locking of post editing is my biggest annoyance. It's like you punish me for some angry dimwit deleting his poems. That hurts dude.
[Alvin, you'll never cut her hair with those].

The edit is on a timer. How about making it longer? Say 1 day?

oh man, how about less restrictive slam rules IE you can slam with poems not in your finished poems section
AND / OR
categorize slams based on number of lines.

Slamming with poems not in your finished poems section won't be possible. Its coded specifically to use that section.
As for number of lines for a poem? Do you mean such as 3 lines or less... More than 10 lines, etc? That may be something we can look into for the next version.
Also, you can edit your workshop poems now, and editing serves the same as deletion.

Correcting typos is cool, but if you go back and make the changes to your original post based on revisions then the comments make no sense. I often don't get to check in for a couple of days and I like being able to see the entire metamorphosis a poem makes.

I think we're going to have to just peer pressure people into obeying that posting new versions rule... but if this change doesn't work, and people just won't do that, then all the code to turn off editing after X hours is still there.
Lets watch it and see how it goes.

How about a Prose Poetry category in the final section?

I can work on that, but I'll have to move some stuff around for the sake of symmetry on the www.gotpoetry.com/poems.html page.

Why do you keep all the good stuff hidden in the basement behind the boiler? Weird. Anyone would thing that you don't _like_ prose poems.

I would like a special page for all of my fans, with a large picture of my grinning face on the gotpoetry main page, and people can click on my frontal lobe to access my works of unrivalled orginality and genius.
Failing that can we have some chocolate biscuits in the coffee shop, please.

You can have anything you like in the coffee shop. Just bring it in and serve it up yourself. You missed the wine and cheese party that Rax, Blondie and mayo threw last weekend.

Could you explain more. I'm not sure what 'Show all threads read' means?
