Time's Gifts
Time's teeth
Turn us into food for our future
Life needs nourishment to survive.
Time's nibbling
Smoothes our sharp edges
That we may grow kinder with years.
Eventually, Time swallows us
We gaze upon the garden of our dreams
And realize that time is our plough.

I like the metaphor that drives it. But I don't understand the last two lines. The poem seems to imply death in S3L1..but then it shifts to another metaphor altogether, and seems to imply a new start. Reincarnation? I am guessing.

Thanks both of you for your comments. The third verse is intended to show that after we have been swallowed by time we look back and see how we used it in the garden that is life. About another verse, I will give that some thought. warm wishes to you both, Tasha

the experience of time - well expressed.
time is a delusion however in that its not time that passes, its life.
time, like all religions, is man made
i thoroughly enjoyed the read

Thanks, Wylde, I agree, it's like we exist in a big pudle we call time but is actually life. and we swim along, thinking it is passing us, hee hee. I have written many poems about time, it fascinates me. I'll go look up your poetry and read some now. Thanks for your comment, I'll put you on my buddy list, perhaps you will do the same? Warm Wishes, Tasha

Interesting coment. I think the inference is that linear time is an invention. However, here's the rub, as I understand it, we can travel in our awareness which means that we don't physically travel, yet can perceive different times and places by accessing different parts of our extended consciousness. It's a very tricky "how many angels can dance on the head of a pin" type of question, however. Warm wishes, Tasha
