Book review: Half truths to live by -by Khaled Ahmed
Reviews The oracle is Freudian in Eruj’s poetry but he himself flits between sexes, now becoming woman, now man. When he relates to his late father, the act is understandably non-oedipal. He loves like a woman but accepts rupture as state of nature. Destruction of ‘tasleem-shudah juhul’ appears absurdist but provides comfort where the act of fitting into straitjackets of social and ideological prescriptions descends like grief....
