4. 3rd annual ABQ HAIKU CHAMPIONSHIP IS THIS SATURDAY
Posted by: "MAS Poetry de ABQ" maspoetry @ yahoo.com maspoetry
Date: Wed Jan 28, 2009 6:31 pm ( ( PST ) )

That's right folks.
On Sat., Jan. 31 we will find out who will reign supreme at
the third annual ABQ HAIKU CHAMPIONSHIP.

It'll be at the Filling Station, 1024 Fourth St. SW, with our guests
from the NM Japanese American Citizen's League.

Your Elite 8 seventeen-syllable slingas are:
Dustin Brown
Rich Boucher
Jasmine Cuffee
Zach Kluckman
Kenn Rodriguez
Tony Santiago
Danny Solis
Brooke Von Blomberg

The Haiku battle is simple -- two poets go head to head, reading their
haiku ( which are often technically senryu, but we won't go into that
now... ) until one poet is left standing.

There will be three-rounds of haiku battle Saturday with the winner
walking away with the ABQ Haiku title!

So...
Third annual ABQ HAIKU CHAMPIONSHIP
feat. Dustin Brown, Rich Boucher, Jasmine Cuffee, Zach Kluckman, Kenn
Rodriguez, Tony Santiago, Danny Solis and Brooke Von Blomberg.
Saturday, JAN. 31, 7 pm
THE FILLING STATION, 1024 4th St. SW

Be there! And tell all your friends!

p.s. We have two regular slams next week:
POETRY & BEER at Blackbird Buvette in Downtown ABQ with the slam,
open-mic and featured music performers ALL OF THE PENCILS. That's
Wednesday, Feb. 4 at 8 pm.

Also, the FIRST FRIDAY poetry slam, open-mic & feature is on Friday,
Feb. 6 with featured poet ABQ WOW champion ERIN NORTHERN. And a beat
box showcase courtesy of sponsor WAREHOUSE 508!

Lastly, All you Facebook users, we now have a ABQSlams Facebook group
which you can join to make sure you get the word when an even is
coming up!
