Poem

Contested Justice

I mean this rhyme to be contentious, thought provoking and hopefully contested- all comments will be greatfully recieved as it's a subject that I have often struggled with. I believe simply that ordinary, everyday people can govern themselves and people always throw this subject at me as an example of how we could not!
Maybe it would make a good debate?

Contested Justice

The paedophile stood before the Judge to hear the verdict to his guilty plea.
Short sentence expected- imprisoned, protected and soon to be released.
Emancipated once ‘rehabilitated’- then relocated, identity un-stated
To the parents of the children on the council estate-
Where he’s been housed by the state.
No public debate for the children’s sake.
(But it’s safe for him to hang around school gates!)
Some would see him dead- or just castrated instead.
(Or the opportunity for a boot to the head).
Human rights and vigilantes who would rule the streets in fear
Are their reasons for the paedophile to not be known here,
But I feel there is a valid point, which has been overlooked,
(And not just that of the of victim whose innocence he took)
It’s a common misconception that police protect ‘us’ from ‘them’.
The state controls by giving roles of choice to certain men.
They render us infantilised- taking choice on our own behalf
A parent state prevents debate, ‘they know best’ right from the start.
But they can’t tell me that psychology will prevent their power game
Safe on Rule 43 at H.M.P- forming networks while in jail.
Where’s the fear in being jailed in this insular liberal system?
One law for them and their brethren and the best of social assistance
And they won’t tell me that tagging beasts is the answer to reprisal
All that ensures is there is no cure and maintains the beast’s survival.
So imagine a scenario where the judge just let him go
And when begging for immunity- the heard reply is ‘no’
He would leave the court in terror- in fear for his worthless life
If he had the chance to start again, he would never do the crime
In the knowledge he would answer for his evil crimes of wrath.
No protection and no favours if he stayed upon this path
Not afforded haven for his rape crime cravings- he would pay as humans would intend
No anti-human insurrection without having police protection he’d not do it again
He would answer to communities who would know his loathsome ways
And then every time there lived a paedophile- the children would not pay.
