Poem Forbidden Forbidden
Forbidden thought is temptation taught
The more we want
The more we’re bought
Inner conflict divides our selves
Condemnations
Proclamations
Defying instinct to remain the same
Levelled
To attain the sustainable
Free minds will find the will to cope
But the novice caste will finish last
Impoverished within
A hierarchy of hope
Where the upper brand command
Where the lower class demand the brand
That hides the lies
That compromise
Individual autonomy
Masses rendered a commodity
For the minority authority
That you and I despise
Convenience culls questioning
Death beckoning, but preferable
To a life without
Cure all comfort in the reckoning
The panacea disciples are devout
To performance related
Fat Cat regulated
To keep up the pace in the rat race of hatred
Wait in line to have no say
To keep the poverty at bay
To swing prosperity your way
Wealth in which to wallow
A leader to follow
Reality is here and now
Don’t think about tomorrow
You won’t survive the
‘What? Where? How?’
Take pills to make you hollow
Focus on transmission
Swallow 'facts' to narrow vision
You can’t empty your purse for the sow’s ear
Here! Here!
That’s the fear
Primed cuts strewn across the battlefields
Life is cheap- pieces of meat
That warfare yields
And workforce wields
To nourish the order
That profits from the blood of mothers, fathers
Sons and daughters
Slaughtered
Distorted
Corpses absorbed again into the whole
Of our Earth: a mass grave of gruesome gratification
Aptitude demonstrations to impress or emulate the rich and famous-
But now the Ken and Barbie bubble’s burst
As Charon picks through pockets in the back of the hearse
Your coin for the Ferryman- his fare must be paid
Don’t you recall?
That’s the deal that you made.
Sindy Doll- G.I Joe
Act out the part
T.V show
But just you remember,
‘It could be worse’
‘Every cloud has a silver lining’
‘Worse things happen at sea’
‘Faith and Hope and Charity’
In death bequeathed with dignity
But in life a non-entity
A not profitable exponent
Of societies components
Not one of the chosen few
Not one who has more than you
and me could ever hope to have to lose
Or have the right to hold or the opportunity to choose
Close-minded reaction
Militant faction
Race, culture, faith
And other distractions
That keep’s us from knowing and stop us from growing
It tears us apart when we reap what we’re sowing
Synthetic rhythm and kinetic rhyme
Synchronised schism marches through time
To the tune of Idolatry-
Supposing Dichotomy
Forbidden to rise to the ranks of the few
Taught thoughts in line with;
‘They’ve got more than you’
Economic despotism
Oligarchic nepotism
Compete to reach the echelons of the elite
Don’t admit defeat
In the quest for that you can never, ever reach
In your work for wealth and hedonism
Like cattle herded to battle
In parallel lines
Conformed to uniform
Apparel defines
Dress to impress
Kill to deadlines
Dress to kill and impress to thrill
As tiny frail fingers
Fumble to feel
To knit together leather for the global capital machine
‘Just Do It’ they say
(For a pittance of pay)
The family won’t starve
(At least not today)
But taught the will to win
Discouraged in thought to care
Pumping up your own supply of how to stay unaware
Without the courage to live
With fear of the day you die
No empathy- just entropy,
Through this intravenous eye
