Poem

Snow Day!

I don’t understand why mom looks so grey,
the announcer just said we have a snow day
that’s wonderful news so why did she scream
it’s not a nightmare but a wonderful dream!

Why did mom cry and go back to bed,
it’s time get out the snowsuits and sled
we’ll build a snowman and have snowball fights,
it’s all a big wonderful day of delight!

When we get too cold we’ll come back inside
where did mom go now, where did she hide?
we want hot chocolate with marshmallow tops
we never want this snow to stop!

After a day of playing outside in the snow,
there’s nothing to do and nowhere to go
boots are lined up and snow suits hung to dry
I'd never before seen mom cry!

The snow day is over and tomorrow it’s back to school
mom is laughing now, she thinks that’s cool!
we’re tired from our day of freedom and fun,
go to sleep knowing there are more snow days to come.
