to never kiss the rain

if you never kiss the rain
trail back your way
to find a face
where kingdoms abound
and you are the queen
of your own private heaven

but when the light goes dim
and silent people come to meet you
come to shadow the horizon
and when the bullet bites you
and when you crucify me
leave me limp
upon this pedestal
of flesh
if you never kiss the rain
