I've Only Tears

Oh Bobby, Oh Bobby
He grabbed a garbage lid and a tiny little stick
When the monsters and ogres would come.
With his shield and little Excalibur
He would fight to defend his Mom.

Oh Bobby, Oh Bobby
Why did you ever grow up?
They gave you a gun and took you to war.
Did you want to kill and prove you’re a man,
And to fulfill ye childish dreams?

Oh Bobby, Oh Bobby
Weren’t my arms around you
Enough to keep you safe and content?
Weren’t my prayers and loving words
Enough to smooth your heroic heart?

Oh Bobby, Oh Bobby
With six feet of sod over your bones
And the cold winter snows resting above.
Now don’t you miss my love and warmth
From within that cold dark grave?

Oh Bobby, Oh Bobby
How could you do this to me?
You took all my love
And tore out my heart
Now I’ve only these tears!
