Silent Snow - sonnet

snow fell silently while we slept last night
it whispered not disturbing our sleep
covering the ground in soft fluffy white
in mounds and hills mysterious and deep.
through the window it's a fantasy land
where we expect to see the fairies dance
undisturbed and untouched by human hand
happy snowflakes spin and twirl and prance.
such beauty we don' want our steps to mar
in wonder we admire from inside.
we're content to be watching from afar
the landscape seems to be filled with such pride
to be giving us this beautiful show
of this soft fluffy white and pristine snow.
