The Fall: A poem of 2 seconds

There’s never a sign before the impending chill
that awaits the other foot
as it slices the air
breaking beyond the walls of the expected

Nervously searching for the guidance
of arms
or legs
the suspense of the endless air approaches
-a perpetual pit
of shattering silence

With no sigh of recourse
from the servitude of earth
gaps of cruel space
scattered through a million miscalculations
Left unforeseen

Helplessly dangling by the force of fate
the inevitable victim of circumstance
breathlessly hangs
forward
through the emptiness
of what was never there.
