Flesh of Star and Moon

Of a thought and feeling that dissolves
along the breath and sacred skin,
and bleeds the reasons why
we are here to exist and be.

Of the wondrous stars that breathe in
the deep rich smells of mortality,
and forever believe and dream
on the sacred lines of eternity.

And of the beautiful moon that weeps
when it reflects and thinks
on the impermanence and death of things,
as its tears fall into deep blue seas.

The flesh of star and moon
is of the same substance as our flesh;
of brain, lung and bone,
and of blood, hair and skin.

We are of the same form and breath
as the sacred moon and stars,
and the relentless hands of death
have us all in its spell and grip.

Death has the last word
for all that breathe the night and day,
and life without death cannot be,
and the spirit flows for eternity.
