Eat your greens

When I was just a little lad, I would stay at grandma’s house.
I’d never eat the broccoli the cabbage or the sprouts.
I would hide them under mash, or put them in my pockets.
And drop them down the lavatory and sometimes forget to flush it.

Then I would be in trouble, when grandma took a pee.
She would come back in and moan “Why didn’t you eat your greens?
“You wont have strong healthy bones, or lovely wavy hair,
none of the girls will like you” But I was young I didn’t care.

I’d ate my meat, I’d ate my mash, mopped the gravy with a crust.
And left the Yorkshire pudding til last, the ones she made were lush.
Now that was very long ago, and now I love my greens
A plate of sprouts and broccoli to me is quite supreme.

Now eat your veg, the fruit and meat, pasta and some rice.
A burgers ok once a week, I must confess their rather nice.
So I hoped you listened to my words, it’s time to say goodbye.
But a healthy diet is what you need it you want to grow and thrive.
