Born in the USA by Rabbitt Born in the USA Robert One told my Dad he had no parents but the census listed "Joseph and Mary" however, I think I found the tree apparent and the reason for his being contrary Bob One said he was born in Springfield one of his few known truths so I went to see what the city would yield and discover a trace of roots the heritage society did not know him no mention in the city directory but I opened a file drawer on a whim and the picture I happened to see- it wasn't a Robert but a Frank and early enough to be Bob's Dad I pulled out the folder with a yank to see what kind of info it had the face was mine when I was young I stood there looking at myself how did I come across this one with all the files in cabinet and shelf ? It felt like an unseen hand guided me reaching out from the past as if someone wanted the family to know the truth at last four later sons were born to them but Bob was born too soon for propriety too soon to acknowledge him in eighteen seventy-two society so he was given up and farmed out grew up and traveled with carnival jobs living with his ancestral doubt haystack needle among a million Bobs a carnival probably brought him back to town and he decided to look his family up found his parents that he had disowned to drink his life from a lonely cup but he enjoyed one brother's embrace an ice- skater and runner of fame asked to manage his brother's race and a news-clip has him named Bob could still be a bastard had his good points and not so good sometimes would get plastered and be noticed in the neighborhood but now we know for shore that our ancestral course flowed through a Sergeant of yore in Springfield's old police force Added to GotPoetry.com ( http://www.gotpoetry.com ) on 01-Jun-2011
