Baby Blue
by spokerman

I hate you and I love you
but I don’t think I ever liked you
can our hearts ever be true
just you and me, baby blue?

My heart has always been in a cage
an actor performing on a stage
full of love and full of rage
now it’s time to turn the page.

You took my love and held it tight
sometimes wrong and sometimes right
but often I’d cry late at night
to find a way to leave, a way to fight.

I hate you and I love you
but I don’t think I ever liked you
can our hearts ever be true
just you and me, baby blue?

You knew my lies and all my fears
saw my smiles through my tears
when life gave me boos and jeers
from you alone came the cheers.

You’d life me up then put me down
I was your king and then your clown
in your tattered glittered gown
you’d find love out on the town.

I hate you and I love you
but I don’t think I ever liked you
can our hearts ever be true
just you and me, baby blue?

Even now you own my soul
without you here I’m just half whole
no future in sight, no set goal
lost in winter’s bitter pole.

There is no way I see for me
from your chains to be set free
I’ve paid the price, extracted the fee
only you hold the key.

I hate you and I love you
but I don’t think I ever liked you
can our hearts ever be true
just you and me, baby blue?
