A TRYST WITH PLEASURE by jrrsterling12
Pleasure gave me
her shoulder to cry
I bared my soul to her
and naively thought
she is a friend in need.
Slowly,
Her caresses turned to kisses
she looked at me with her smoldering eyes
and there was longing in those eyes
that stirred up the dormant desire in me
we surrendered to the moment
completely
and the inevitable happened
In the throes of passion
for a while
I forgot my grief
and naively thought
she truly loved me
At dawn, I woke up
aroused by the footsteps
of Reality
and I was aghast to find
that Pleasure had slyly parted
without a word
without a note
without a parting kiss.
In the arms of Pleasure
I had lost track of time
Ah! How long did I wallow
in this shallow world
of fleeting dreams?
shutting my sensual ears
to the clarion call of Reality!
O Pleasure!
You are a fickle mistress
Strange are your ways!
You seduce and then you desert
You make promises to break
Grief resurfaces
and the pain of withdrawal
rubs salts into the wounds
a night of pleasure always ends
with the dawn of reality
you wake up to find
nothing has changed
You are on your own
to bear the brunt of reality. |
