A note on young bisexuals
by Gustavsson

She asks me:
"Why won't you take me out?
I'm fun and I'm your type!
We're so compatible together,
don't you think?"

I turn away and search inside myself for an answer
that I don't have to delve too deep to find.
Why won't I spend time chasing after a girl
much younger than myself who can't make up her mind
between sexes?
Why shouldn't I romance a girl who is most likely
going to, sooner or later, start looking at me like
a best friend rather than a lover?
How could I deny a girl solely on the unspoken promise
that no matter how perfect I fail at being,
she'll eventually get bored and want the one thing I can't offer?

My eyes look past her seemingly translucent existence
as if to wander to a far off promised land
where women actually know what they want,
and my tongue allows the words to drip slowly:
"I just don't like reruns."
