There is never a good love poem

that doesn not indulge in
and never writes on
the self glorification
of the lover

there never is a love poem
that is a pine or an opine
on the ways and wiles
of the diligent lover

there never is a love poem
that is amusing the reader
and the recepient of love
without it being brash

there never is any need to say
the words the same way
they have been said
for aeons and aeons

and still we write them
over and over again
love you are nefarious
and i will not indulge

never mind the loss
