Would you come and hold me close to you?
Would you let me cry and keen the whole night through?
Would you hold me till the shuddering ceased?
Would you stay until I fell asleep at least?

Would you stay and hold me close to you?
Would you tell me you are hurting too?
Would you stroke me softly until all was fine?
Would you promise me we'll have our time?

Would you just, oh God, please, just understand?
Would you see that your love seems to slip through my hands?
Would you understand my pain and not think me weak?
Would you see that life without you is bleak?

Do you know that I am happy most of the time?
Do you know that my times with you are sublime?...but......
Do you know that my heart weeps rivers when you leave?
Do you know when the door shuts that my soul bleeds?

Do you know which door I'm referring to?
Do you know it's your chosen door , hers, that you go back to?
Do you know how that makes me feel small and so sad?
Do you know that choosing her over me hurts so bad?

When I KNOW at night you are lying in bed next to her
When I KNOW you are praying for just one touch from her
When I KNOW I am second? When I KNOW she comes first?
When I KNOW that this pain may only get worse?

Would you come and hold me close to you?
Would you let me cry and keen the whole night through?
