Valentines Day

I lie languid,
staring at ceilings,
taking comfort
in a box of
chocolate
hearts
that look like
up-ended butts:
full and smooth
until
they are snapped
across the middle,
raining sweet
jagged pieces
into my mouth,
dissolving
like aspirin
and scarring
my tongue.
