Poems - never rest

never rest

mistakes can be a wonderful gift
if something learned comes from it
so many choices need to be made
while memories of mistakes will fade
evitable now becomes a certainty
the liability of humanity

living together on planet earth
divided by something called worth
this planet we share and destroy
treated by us like a cheap toy

of course you heard all this before
living our own lives is the important chore
numb to the the suffering and despair
deep down I know most of us care
hopelessly entangled in our own affairs

every time one speaks up to confront
the ones in power it acts like a shunt
diverting attention to where it is needed
to finally learn from the past unimpeded

we may not always agree with the voices
at least though we live where we have choices
to rise up against what should be addressed
may those who dare to protest
never rest
