A Little Riddle In The Middle

by easyeverett

A little riddle in the middle of each holy book -
If life was lived to give and give how might that life now look?
For if you look at holy books around this world ten fold,
You will not find one kind of mind that practices what's sold.

So why do people still deny the failure of the lie
When man will make the same mistake each time the lie goes by?
A singularity of mind can never understand
It needs an equal opposite to make that mind expand.

The Cold War gave us Vietnam because of "dominos"
Where all of Southeast Asia falls when North takes South - she blows!
A theory failed when tested and then bested by the facts
The bleedin' in the Nam was for the corporation hacks.

It was a simple muscle play that got away from men
So they created Gulf of Tonkin - saved their ass again
And sixty thousand dead would be the cost of tragedy -
Till McNamara's forty year too late apology.

Advice on force should always come from military brass,
But McNamara kept the lie to save his yellow ass.
And all this can be verified quite simply in a day
By mental midgets like George Bush who has the final say.

Dick Cheney thought invaders got some flowers and then kissed
What planet that dumb shit's been on I know I must have missed.
They should be tried and crucified and buried in their blight
For every son and daughter dead or wounded by the fright.

Before you start a war rely on those who've seen the fight
Instead of pin-head neo-cons whose brains drain Bottled Light.
Today the riddles are the same though faces don't remain:
So, will we learn from these mistakes or make them all again?

Equally scathing and clever. And in perfect iambic heptameter, which is definitely a challenge.
