The Forgotten

by themaze

Penetrating my bricks and silence
Archeologists try to rebuild a house with words
A house with a forgotten name
Ancient myths rise like cinema monsters from desecrated tombs
Flickering home movies on my Temple walls
Blood runs deep in my stones
Dream Lords and Warrior Kings
A birthplace of Shamans
Painted in a pitch of spiders and scorpions lament

Phantom cats chase shadow mice
Through the chambers of my head
My treasures have been arranged and counted
Antediluvian feathers under glass
Someone stole the crystal skull
The giant’s bones lie headless in a box
Quetzalcoatle plays an ocarina on the plaza
He does not remember

A thousand dead astrologers waiting
The Seven Sisters rising above my walls
The dancers in the stones they are calling me
And you do note even hear
You do not even know how to pronounce my name

Definitely a worthwhile poem to read and ponder both the real and mythological history of the ancient pre-biblical world. Besides the homework required however, I enjoyed slipping into the emerald jungle following your cats... I have no idea, my friend (minor typo in S3 L4)... but I will say I truly enjoyed this. Cheers, Mary Ann
