Poems - Chase The Rainbow

Chase The Rainbow

who will chase a rainbow
round and round the bend
follow it closely now
it's elusive and doesn't end
the colorful illusion
leads many people astray
already wounded, bloody
hearts in this mad foray
we find empty pots, no gold
the rainbow bleeds it's colors
the spectrum has nothing to hold
like diamonds made of glass
scattered on the sidewalk
for the fallen dreamers to
scavenge like the diving hawk
they fly through fallen rainbows
spattered in the field
still ready to chase that pot of gold
and all that it might yield

Ah the beauty of the rainbow, spectacular yet elusive such as many of life's splendors, requiring time and maturity to appreciate them in their natural fullness. Beautiful poem, Linda - I really enjoyed it.
