Steeple bells rang the hour. I thought of you.
This day you came into the world
trailing your beauty, glorious beauty you hurled
with wild abandon everywhere.
Too soon the bells were hushed and stilled
for you, too great of heart to be
limited to this mortal flesh set your spirit free
The years toll on, and I grow older,
my blood grows colder, moving slower,
while you remain unchanged to me.
And yet somewhere beyond my knowing
you grow on. One day when I am free to follow
I will discover you beyond the reach of years,
amidst the sound of Heaven's chimes unfolding still
