I may have broken your heart but you broke mine right back
By saying I was a distraction that got you off the right track
By claiming we were nothing and I was just a big mistake
Telling me you loved me was a pretty big one to make.
I didn’t mean to embarrass or hurt you or to make you sad
But I just wasn’t ready and thought it may just be a summer fad.
You clearly meant a lot to me and it might just have been love
Looking back on it now I think God sent you to me from above.
I clearly didn’t realise what I had until you were gone
I know you have moved on now to a girl closer to home,
And she makes you laugh, smile and you’re great together
But you’ll have a special place in my heart for always and forever.
I wish you all the best as long as you may be alive
And that you marry a girl that’s more deserving than me to be your wife.
