ay, the rub

some say that love is the feeling that comes
from caring about someone more than yourself---
yet,
one must care about themselves &
one must know themselves
before they can extend any emotional reach outward
with hopes of a connection---
so if it takes a life to come even close to understanding who it is that
you are,
how do you expect to ever really know anyone else?
