The Restless Mind

by Phoebe

A restless mind is like a wind that blows across the land
And never seems to find itself a way to understand
Its restless soul must find a path however long or brief
To minimise its restlessness, and give itself relief

Restless minds get bumped around, occasionally bruise
Life never favours anything - it does not pick or choose
It steamrolls over everything along its merry way
It's up to all those in its path to get out of its way

Creativity often creates and grows a restless mind
It needs a fix of energy, somewhere it can unwind
A restless mind can often drop into a lonely space
And many have been known to disappear without a trace

There is a gentle outlook the restless mind can go
A quiet place inside a space that heals its restless flow
And once inside that lovely space it wont take long to find
The energising powers that will calm the restless mind.

That space is inside all of us, is known by many things
but most of all its where the healing energy bird sings
And as it sings its way into the ever restless mind
The restlessness will disappear, and leave just peace behind

~Phoebe~

this restlessness inside you is a source of poetic wealth
to find so many topics in and of itself
and thentot assemble them with great finesse and stealth
a sign of fertility and good linguistic health Very Happy

I think this a curse to poetry's poets and the art world that artist no matter the genre are sad people; because we are always trying to pull something out of ourselves in order to get a reaction from others.

You have a wonderful way with words and I am always surprised by your skill.

Does a world miss a restless mind,
when the world figures out it was left behind?

I heard it said, "People don't like crazy; but they sure like to look at it."

If there's one passion almost on par with poetry for me it's reading - especially the thoughts of great writers which I read in their written masterpieces. I think Philip Hamilton was right when he said in learning to know other things, and other minds, we become more intimately acquainted with ourselves, and are to ourselves better worth knowing. I'm immensely appreciative of your comment James, thank you.. Very Happy Phoebe

G'day Phoebe...
I really enjoy reading poetry written in a 'bush ballad' style with good rhyme and meter and this one is a beauty Phoebe.
In many of your poems you certainly have me questioning myself with your topics.
Well done again.

The healing energy bird, eh? I've been looking for that, I fear that some hooligan may have shot it....

In spite of that, this is a very good piece indeed, with rhyme & meter well managed and a good message to boot!

I like the concept of a bird as a healing entity, the soaring above everything, finding those pockets of air to soar even higher - it's so dramatically perfect....and well clear of any hooligan's bullet..thank you Oz... Very Happy Phoebe

To minimise its restlessness, and give itself relief" and I'd add;
A restless mind is as an ocean flowing ceaselessly,
Of ideas, worries, memories, wisdom, etc and folly. All these it will one day flush out ashore for the world the to savor of her restless envoy. Many with goodlucks as ill lucks working all for the reason why we live.
Lots of insights in your piece phoebe, gave me a poem; a poet's mind. Thanks for sharing this
