missing

by wordsmithwannabe

He lifts the needle
from the old 5th Dimension record

(a person can only listen
to One Less Bell to Answer
so many times)

crawls into their bed
closes his eyes

and for the first time in many many nights,
he allows himself to dream.

ahhhh chris - I believe that a lot that is wrong with the world today could be helped if the turntables, the 45's and the long-playing albums could come back - LOL - Seriously though, this small, wonderfully written piece speaks volumes to me. There is a LOT to be said for having 3 tv channels, and only 1 tv, 1 telephone, and that huge, piece of furniture in every living room in America in the 60's. That magical record player that brought Elvis and the Beatles right into our homes! Smile

oh Sandy i could not agree with you more! don't get me wrong, i'm all for modern technology and what-not, but there was something so much simpler and meaningful in those days...i grew up in the 70's and early 80's when the music industry was really changing and i miss artists who were real musicians, playing instruments and could actually sing live. the LP only made it more real and down to earth. thanks for the comment, my friend. take care.
