Do Cowboys Ever Cry

When the coyote howls
under a black starlit night,
and the loneliness sets in,
I wonder, if cowboys ever cry.
I don't know why, I guess because
they're tougher than most folks are.
And they set their jaw "that way"
when they're going to travel far.
When they get into a fight
they look like Brahma bulls.
When they get drunk
they act a bunch of fools.
But, do they ever cry
when the going gets tough
or the girls hurt too much.
Do they cry when it gets too rough?

I don't know
It's hard to say
I'd like to ask one
Some fine day

A well-done thoughtful piece of musing which moves along at just the right pace. Perhaps you might like to watch Andy Warhol's "Lonesome Cowboys" some time.

i think john wayne's balls were just too big for him ever to cry.....cowboys just ride off in to the sunset instead and do their crying in the wilderness - clint eastwood's six shooter.

Interesting question Linda. I think if I was sitting on a saddle for ten hours each day there might be a reason to cry. I guess when it's all said and done, cowboy's are human's with feelings too.
