Poems - vogue

vogue

by cathy.robinson

airbrush away my pores
apply concealer
under my eyes,
so nobody will know i'm tired
highlight my hair
to make them think
i've been outdoors,
and don't forget the spray tan.
cover my naturally pink lips
with pink lipstick
coat my eyelashes
thick with mascara,
play up my green eyes
with greener contacts.
now put me on a cover
and tell all the girls
that this is what
the girl next door
really looks like.

preach it! my mother rarely ever wore makeup when i was younger (she still doesn't) and i thought she was the most beautiful creature that ever existed.
