The Nightjar

by Essex68

In harmony with the crickets song, she flies
the twilight sky.
Purring across the long stemmed sea while
sunlight gently sighs
Tapered wings, like a silhouette so agile
in her flight
She twists and turns, and dips and dives before
day turns to night

Yes it is Phoebe, they are getting quite rare as summer visitors now in the UK. They are quite hard to describe, worth a google if you get a moment

G'day Wayne...
Nicely put together Wayne. We call them Frogmouth's out here. I have only seen a few. Very good at keeping still and are well camouflaged.
Thank you Wayne

Yes they are very hard to spot when roosting. they sit along a branch and lay low. They just look like a nobbly bit of the tree
