A Summer Day of Fire and Ice

sunlight’s waltz
robin’s egg skies
everything alive
is lovin’ you

a summer’s day true
where children play
along this quiet street
as a neighborhood
tunes its dancing feet

block party
lawn settees
potluck tasties
sunny songs
gather round these
busy bees’noisy activities

while I have chosen
whispering dusk
evening musk
and a solitary breeze
to heed those pink party beats
drifting through the white
pollen dust that sifts
and brushes out
the long moss
tresses of the evening
then lets them fall across
my open window’s sill

outside
July heat sears until
every movement feels
violent

but in here
I sit still
gratefully held
inside a cool spell
of soft blue silence

Simply exquisite. The middle passage (S4) is particularly stirring. I feel richer for reading this piece.
