Poems - Dark of night

Dark of night

There's a golden band on an older hand.
He's worn it everyday since he was sixteen.
And how the tears do fall since she's been gone.
They had the type of love that just doesn't die.
He sees it when his little girl looks in his eyes.
His little girl is in a wedding dress.
Saying words that now days mean less and less.
And he's watching her with tears in his eyes.
Wishing her mama could be there.
Remebering the day he said those words to her.
And he knows he never meant anything more.
And even though she's gone
Her spirit carries on.
He never takes that ring off.
And he talks to her each night.
And he makes a million promises.
In the dark of night.
There's a teenage girl looking at a picture.
Stareing at a face she can't remeber.
But she knows he loved her so.
She knows her mama feels so alone now.
And she holds her mamas hand.
She whispers that she loves her.
And the sun will shine again.
And even though he's gone.
His spirit carries on.
She keeps his love close to her heart.
And they pray everynight.
That he is doing allright.
In the dark of night.

i'm sure that behind this words a great poem is yet to be written, needs some work, add imagery, metaphor and take care of the sequence or thoughts, it is very important to do so.
