Poems - Time Stands Still

Time Stands Still

Time stands still
the moment is near
patience is thin
He's almost here

Suspense is killing
and brewing in my mind
as the hands on the clock
slowly unwind

Thoughts of his appearence
fill my head
thoughts of holding him
cause a tear to be shed

As a look of pain
dances across my face
I grip the sides of the bed
for support and a brace

All of a sudden
his heart beat went down
doctors were rushing
and running around

"Code red !" they yelled
"emergancy C must be done !"
and when they were through
they said " you have a son"

Precious moments are shared
between his father and I
as we look down upon him
and heave a grateful sigh

I smile to myself
and down at my son
because finally at last
the waiting is done

(I wrote this when I was 18yrs old, after the birth of my son)
