What's the Point?

I don’t know,
say we were ‘together’
and you told me you loved me
and I said that was okay
because at this point
love was the only way
out of this pathetic existence.
But you continued to say it
over and over
until the words became
a headache
and the screaming in my head
wouldn’t submit
because all I can do
is attempt not to gag
because I LOVE YOU
isn’t in my vocabulary
it never was.
But I don’t think you see that
like you’re looking deeper
than I ever have
like you’re seeing someone
that I couldn’t see.
It’s a problem
I hope to resolve.
This I LOVE YOU
in dark hallways
or lonely nights
when you feel it’s time to call
Because you
‘miss’
my voice.
