As Above, So Below

by MichaelFirewalker

over Mother Earth we fly
side by side
left to right
above the ignorance busily shredding
her daily diminishing Life

but not above her pain
this we must know again and again
this we must live and breathe

it is her pain she has bequeathed

it births compassion's marrow
inside our spirit-bones

from Mother’s mind we learn to find
her wounded ones
and guide them home

for her we fly by crumbling stones
of aged mountains
those scattered, creaking, vaulted domes
erected hard and high
to crush through eons vast
and climb past clouded peaks
where fountains gush and plunge
catapulting down
with all her pregnant memories
whose torrents fall in worship
of the fecund plurality
that roams beneath her teeming seas

long ago they all ran free
replenishing themselves
by her own fertility

but today her ancient histories
are barely heard

they drip now through the centuries
as her waters dry incrementally
while the old ways burn

because the fires of chaos yearn
to rule her sacred land
her memories have nearly died

yet how grand her smallest sigh...
her whispers span millennia!

and where they lie
we too have lain
like ashes spread
inside her pain

there
our fallen Love
burns and cries

now it must begin to rise

soon the angel draws that line…

it is time
her children learned to fly

we must remember who we are
sons and daughters born of Earth
warriors high in blessed sky
rebirthed

tip to tip
strong spirit-wings
must spread across her paling turf
reach to kiss Mother Earth

time has come to let them soar

remember how she poured
her lush volcanic core into each of us

from her own depleting stores she bled
until our flesh was fed and fully formed around
the spirits first sent down inside her living waters

we who would become
the embodiment of her Love for Life
must lift her high on phoenix wings
and help our Mother fly
through freshly baptized skies
as she unfolds her azure soul
upon her emerald skin
til darkened land can shine with Life again
and crooked minds think straight
from out the blackened maws of hate

when that first new hope is torn
in kindness dancing graciously
and innocence paints ecstasy
she will lift her ground-bound wings
and let all her grass green feathers sing
her through her healing flight

as each of us becomes aware again
of who we've really always been
the phoenix born within the Dove
high above the Sefirot

where even now we are become
the simultaneity
that fills this entire universe
abiding at once as One
inside the Holiest of All

we are Life poured forth fully
formed from the purest Light
of we who are

Love

hi, anna9----sorry I missed this from you until now----will you help me understand a bit better just what it is that you are asking?----do you mean why did I use phoenix twice in this poem, or why have I also used it in other poems?

    thanks,
    michael

these words are visually stunning!
i can see in my mind the images that flow with these words, and they're beautiful and sad at the same time. This is excellent!

what you express here, xXxSYNxXx, in response to this poem, is what I feel also, both happy and sad----happy that Mother is healing, and sad that her pain has lasted millions of millenniae----who can even begin to comprehend such a thing, a planet who is sentient, and who has a consciousness thousands of times greater than ours?----and yet, when I energetically enter her core , and commune with her, it is her pain that is primary, her pain that remains with me, along with her overwhelming love, which I am very aware is far beyond my ability to comprehend...

    thank you,
    michael
