For This I Thank You

“For This I Thank You”

You dashed my heart against the jagged rocks
and left me dying there
my life blood spilling forth
mixing with the tempest
my icy raging sea of emotions
For this I thank you

That door you caused me to close and lock
The one I’d left ajar
allowing the debris of shattered dreams
and false memories of a great love lost
to blow in and clutter my existence
For this I thank you

You forced me to look within through my tears
and reclaim my ideal Self
the freer of all fears
soother of all pain
revealer of the great heights I can attain
For this I thank you

I have now been freed from all past regrets
to soar with the eagles
bearing no emotional debts
To you or any other one
releasing you to soar for yourself
For this I thank you

Like scorched Phoenix I am rising
From the ashes of redemption
An unlimited revision of me
I have dropped the chains that bound my soul
And now I am abundantly free
My friend, for this I thank you
