Poems - Nevermore

Nevermore

Well now she likes him,
I’m not on her mind,
I never knew love,
Was so hard to find.

I may still be young,
And not very smart,
But I can still feel,
The desires of the heart.

Not a day goes by,
I don’t think of what we had,
How I wasn’t good enough,
How I let it go bad.

I don’t know what I did,
If anything at all,
I just think she was wrong,
She misheard her hearts call.

But there are some things,
That if I could go back,
I’d do them different,
So our love wouldn’t crack.

Sometimes it still hurts,
The wounds were so deep,
That’s why on some nights,
I still cry myself to sleep.

All I did was love her,
And she just pretended,
Then came the sad day,
She said we had ended.

I should have tried harder,
And asked her to say,
Now I want her to love me,
More and more every day.

I wish I would say it,
Just look her in the eye
And tell her I love her,
That without her I’d die.
But if it’s God’s will,
Maybe I’ll find the one,
With no more damage,
To ever be done.

But it’s still kind of hard,
To fight love’s desire,
With love coming over me,
Like a consuming fire.

Now I’ll tell you this,
And believe me you must,
When I say that what I feel,
Isn’t sin’s lust.

They say that it’s wrong,
And not proper for me,
But that’s cause I’m in,
A different reality.

Or maybe they’re right,
I should just stop,
And hope that true love,
Will come out on top.
