Water's Curve

by greygrynn

Slide into blue-green water, chlorine playing
“Burn-Sting” with the eyes and flail unsteadily
forward, a sea gulls flight on broken wing.
Make it only part way - Panic forces
up to breathe….again.

Continue beating roggly surface, exhausted in the end.
Azure Exocet glides up along side, shows water’s
soul is kind in it’s own mysterious way.

Gently, mermaid coaxes lung burning fear,
brown rich-earth strong, from a chalk dry soul,
gold-topaz skin, a gleam in evening’s blood-red storm.

Stilted, new strokes a forming as land-air-breathing memory
learns, waters’ love, Cold and Davy Jones locker strong.
“Stroke!, 3-Breath!, Stroke!, 3-Breath!”
Gamely keep a working, faith,
new born dolphin weak.

Soon, quit fighting turquoise blue-green-clear,
rocketing on with Azure maid, form, Skipjack
sleek, reach, two meters long.
