Glory Be

Matching wits with fiery eyes, watching from the chutes,
No time to turn the clock back now; dig in those spurs and boots,
Maybe this draws a bad one, a bull no man can ride,
You take your chance in the lottery, the numbers if you live or die.

Glory be to the hungry, those that never feel the pain,
They keep their chaps against the fire
Of the hide of the hell that's going insane.

Eulogies on the tombstones, are written in cowboy blood,
Crosses that were laid to bear lie hidden in the mud,
While there's breath in my body, and a number on my back,
The roar of the bull is louder, than roar of the rodeo crowd.

Broken bones and spirits, by the next contest are gone,
For the bulls and broncs and rodeo, carry the soul along,

Now the rodeo is over, prizes all been won,
The winners breast up at the bar, and the losers head on home,
They know next week will find them, at another rodeo,
Another town, they'll all go down, to have another go.

Glory be to the hungry, those that never feel the pain,

Of the hide of the hell that's going insane.
