The Burning Bible

by spence

We're burning in hell
Can't you tell from the smell?
Our paradise lost
To the toll of deaths bell
Eden has fallen
Temptation to take
We inherited heaven
Perdition we make
But the Adam's and Eve's
Still want to believe
That by begging forgiveness
They'll get a reprieve
So they fall to their knees
Redemption at stake
Pleading for mercy
While damnation awaits
Outside heavens gates
Are woman and man
Those angels and demons
Who can't understand
They were given a choice
To do good or ill
And the state of their world
Would be of their will
So 'Heaven or Hell'?
The option is ours
Only we can deliver
Only we have the power

I know what you mean mate- I see these apocalyptic prophecies and it dismays me that people think they are trapped in fate and can't affest our 'destiny'- how can we fuck this beautiful planet up and then hope for rapture? That's not much of a solution! cheers qev, spence

Loved this one Spence.. I truly believe that we make our choice right here.. You can't get to heaven by doing ill and repent at the last minute and all is forgiven... you live your life as if you want to get there by doing good deeds ,helping your neighbor with love in your heart and peace on your mind..... very nicely written.. a wonderful poem from a man that really cares. we always have choices. every second of every day. for some reason it reminded me of a quote from one of my favourite films. called " the warriors ", " it's all out there. all we have to do, is figure out how to go steal it ". - i'm always against book burning, but some books should maybe be singed once in a while - paul.

Cheers Paul- I tried to read the bible once, but failed miserably! All I know is that all religious doctrine preaches much about peace, love etc, but the institutions rarely practice it and are responsible for much more suffering and death. I love the warriors too by the way! Class quote you'ver given there! spence

Thank you DB- Much like governments I often use shock tactics to get my point across and in this case I used 'doctrine speak' as an earthly analogy of heaven and hell and our power to choose which we'd prefer. Thanks for the vote and comment, spence
