Poems - Summer 06

Summer 06

Spent six months in my bestfriends basement,
My birthday in a police station
Didn't have a frosted cake
I slept on benches by the lake
Became a theif to make fast cash
I Robbed a dealers biggest stash
Fast food was all that I ate
Still I managed to lose weight
Hung around some random places
Liquer turned my tastebuds tasteless.
Started smoking cigarettes
Talk just like I have tourettes
Hung over every other day
Can't believe things got this way
My mother let me move back in
The day before school let in

Mom thinks i've matured and grown
she tells her friends all on the phone
I get good grades and watch my tone

It always makes me shake my head when people don't take seriously the epidemic of youth alcoholism/addiction. I know kids like this. I watched some make, some die- prayed for them all.
