Wasting is Like Wanting

There are a million things pulling you down
Yet, you still stand
Turn the hourglass over
Your will alone could stop the sand

I will hand you the years of my life
Like love notes and gestures of faith
I just want to sleep here tonight
I want to wake up to hear you say

I love you, I am dying
I want you to stay
I need you in my life
With you, I would waste it away

We will cry, we will burst
We take chances, we die young
We are love, we are hurt
We carry stars, we sing from paper lungs

I let you burn all the years of my life
Crumple love notes and grim exchange
I sleep here with you every night
Every morning, I wake up to hear you say

I love you, you saved my life
Here you will always stay
Forever you will be in my life
Together, we will waste it all away

And now our love is so old
Even the wind knows our names
Now, my blood is impossibly thick
With you coursing through my veins

The hours, the days, the years are ashes
The notes, I've thrown them all away
I just want to die here tonight
One last time, I want to hear you say

I love you, you are dying
I wish that you could stay
I need you, I will miss you
Oh, please don't go away
