dead to you

by questionajourney

The person you knew is dead
so bask alone in your addiction.
As I learn to forget, you ramble
on and on and on.....
Those weren't the best of times-
High in a corner seeking more, more, more....
As I learn to forget, you ramble
on and on and on.....
You say looking back, jokingly
is the healing power-
I just want to forget
and move on, away, forward.

Addiction on many le (Score: 1 )

Addiction on many levels. Transition is difficult. If you were my friend I would suggest that there is no such thing as death anyway, so look again at your options -- perhaps something overlooked? I bid both of you strength and success through the change.

very kind words i needed to hear Sahari...i wish it could be the same, but when old friendships were based on the madness ofaddiction, there is little room to go back..only forward...thanks for your reflection:) kev

You say a lot in this little poem. You can only concentrate on your own recovery, which sometimes means leaving those NOT in recovery behind...even if just temporarily. It's kind of like that old saying"You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink" You can show a person the means of recovery, but they have to want it. This is the time for self-care! Yay for you!! Joan

thanks Joan...i agree with ya...i tried to keep old friendships alive, but the memories are too potent to concentrate on recovery..time to spend some time working on myself, for once:) kev
