10MM

10MM

I heard the noise develop wings like metamorphise
When god saves us from ourselves
We are here to learn
To ease all of tomorrows concerns
For days change seven times a week
In fours a month proceeds
For the sperm who wins the race
Gets to live as me
I the son of matter, dna and genes
When drugs exploit the minds of beings
They never seem to see
For wars endanger human needs
On souls the devil feeds
When life moves in slow motion
Flowing from stream to ocean
10mm before God I’ll stand
To seek the knowledge to purify his land
Put the whole world on a turntable and mix
If God was a DJ we’d all need a fix
To taste life from a sip in cup
To a place where people never grow up
With eyes of a visionary to see right through the century
I want to be honest and write a rhyme that is conscious
A line that makes sense like girls not having abortions
When the thump of the beatbox stops
And the voice on the mic drops
I’ll be 10mm before God
Asking for his salvation.

That was utterly brilliant. I sat here, reading it aloud to myself, and I felt that power. Loved the language, you inspire me very much.

    Thank You! I'm gonna try to put up more poems from my 2003 collection-I'm ecstatic that you like the poem-it's actually a stage poem based on a performance-so your right!-you have to say it out loud for it to have meaning! thanks Again!
